The art of telling a story is at the heart of my work as a celebrant. You will see the story of your loved one woven throughout the script that I write - from the moment the ceremony starts right through to the end.
This storytelling is important.
It honours the life and the legacy of your loved one.
It is an opportunity to reminisce and remember your own stories that were intertwined with your loved one.
In doing so it keeps the memory of your loved one alive and creates a space which enables you to grieve for the loss of the person who has died.
The ceremony can be held within a building, such as a church or a crematorium, or it can be a woodland burial, or at another location.
The ceremony can be
- a funeral
- a celebration of life
- a scattering or interment of ashes
- or a memorial ceremony.
We are blessed with the most amazing countryside and it is a delight to hold a ceremony in an outdoor location.
My Commitment to you
My commitment to you is that I will meet with you to hear about the person who has died and who you were close to.
This space isn’t a meeting as such – it is far more than that.
It is a space I hold that enables you to remember your loved one, and a space to plan for how to celebrate their life and to be able to say goodbye.
Once I have drafted the script for the ceremony, there is usually the opportunity for you to ask for amendments and updates.
Ceremonies
Ceremonies can take the form of a traditional funeral, or we can be creative with ideas that capture the life and soul of your loved one.
This is your space and together we craft what you need and what best honours your family member.
The ceremony can be religious, spiritual or secular. You can choose songs, hymns, poems, write reflections, let me know your creative ideas – and I will bring some too - and together these become your tribute.
Costs
The usual cost is £250, although some ceremonies might attract a larger fee. Travel expenses will be added to the fee for travel beyond 10 miles of my base or for multiple journeys – please do message to ask for more details.
