Brec Seaton

Celebrant | Facilitator | Mediator

A space where your voice and story matters

Hi, I am Brec and I am delighted that you are here. I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself in the hope that you will get in contact and that I can share in a part of your story too

My Story

Brec is a family nickname given to me by my grandfather and derived from Rebecca. I live in south Cumbria, enjoy the outdoors, value my family and friends and would love to meet you too.

I spent my childhood only a few miles from where I live now, returning to give my own children the lifestyle and freedom that I had experienced.

I am a certified funeral celebrant, a facilitator and trainer of 30 years, and a mediator of 12 years, accredited by Scottish Mediation.

My passion is holding a space for others to share their stories.

This might be in the challenging times of a mediation where your story needs to be told and heard, and where you need to hear the story of another.

It might be in facilitating a session where change needs to happen, and where debate and conversation are valued.

It might be when I listen to the story of your loved one and hear the way in which your life intertwined with theirs, before I craft a ceremony to celebrating and honour their life.

Please browse these pages. I hope you find all that you are looking for, and please don’t hesitate to reach out and contact me. I look forward to speaking with you soon.

My values - what others say

I found writing about my own values – the ‘who I really am’ very hard, so instead, I have lifted the words a colleague gave me when I left my previous role.

‘Brec, not everyone leaves footprints that can be measured. Some leave confidence where there was uncertainty; belonging where there was hesitation encouragement where there was doubt; hope where someone simply needed to be seen. You have been that kind of person. You have a beautiful way of noticing what others can so easily miss. You believed in me before I had the opportunity to prove myself, and gave me the confidence that comes from someone simply saying, ‘I see you’. That is a gift I will always carry. Our team won’t just miss what you did, we will miss the spirit that you brought with you each day. Your pastoral heart, your kindness, and your ability to make people feel valued have quietly shaped lives, including mine. I am so thankful that our paths crossed.

My Spiritual life

I attend the local Quaker Meeting House, and before this I was a Methodist Local Preacher. I am a trustee for Rookhow, a space where groups gather for dialogue, community, worship and peace in the heart of the Rusland Valley in South Lakeland.

My Approach

Every story is precious and valuable.

As a funeral celebrant, I listen to the memories of your loved one, getting to know them too through you. I then craft a ceremony that is unique to your loved one, and that truly represents their life, their story, their legacy.

In facilitation - we hear each other’s stories and value our differences, using this to find the next part of your journey that will bring you many blessings.

In mediation - I hold the space for you to share your story with another party. Together we look underneath the surface of what has caused the conflict and seek ways to bring healing and peace to each party.
